Ettyk tumgyturi! Hello friends! I am currently in the process of writing a story about Chukchi. It is a word document on my computer and it is called "Clear Skies". The main character, Tinyl, is a Chukchi girl who lives in a yaranga with her family. I will probably post my story here when it is complete.

Introduction

Hi everyone!

So, I just created this blog, and I decided it would be necessary to introduce myself and my blog. This blog is mainly about the Chukchi people of northern Russia/Siberia. I wanted to make this blog because I have Chukchi heritage, and I find it important to connect with my kinpeople.

My name is Kemgekem, and I like to make Chukchi crafts, sing songs, throat sing and I enjoy dancing Chukchi dances. I also love Koryak and Itelmen songs and dances, because they are so energetic. I have a chum, which is a cone shaped tipi-like structure usually covered in skins, but I covered it in a tarp because I don't have enough animalskins. I want to make a yaranga this summer and I hope I will be able to.  Koryak people lived in chums, but also did Dolgans, Selkup, Nenet, Khanty, Komy, and others, etc. just to name a few. I hope you wull like this, and keep checking back to see what I have for you!
